Thomas Hill Standpipe Opens to Public Wednesday
A local landmark that shows off the view of Eastern Maine will open to the public Wednesday, July 24th. It’s the summer sunset tour for the Thomas Hill Standpipe. Visitors can climb the 100-steps to the top of standpipe starting at 5 p.m. It’ll be open until 9 p.m. The standpipe was built in 1897 and is still used today to regulate water pressure in downtown Bangor and to store water for emergencies.
