Police Issue Summonses in Stolen Tomb Doors Case

Updated 9 months ago

Earlier this month TV 5 reported someone stole the tomb doors from the Silver Lake Cemetery in Bucksport, now police have cited three people for the crime. Sgt. David Winchester with the Bucksport Police Department tells us Dustin Herbest, 29, of Winterport, Zachariah Herbest, 21, of Bucksport, and Tiffany Eastman, 24, of Winterport, are cited on charges of receiving stolen property. Employees of a metal recycling shop in Waldo County called police after buying hundreds of pound of brass. Police say the doors were stolen in either late June or early July. Bucksport uses the tomb to store bodies when the ground isn’t ready for burials. Sgt. Winchester tells us the doors are ” destroyed beyond repair.”
