Maine International Film Festival to Show Screenings of Maine Based Films

Two films in progress based on true stories out of Maine are premiering at the Maine International Film Festival. A 20-minute section of a fictionalized film version of “Lost on a Mountain in Maine” is showing Wednesday and again Saturday at the Waterville festival. The film’s based on Donn Fendler’s true story of survival after getting lost on Mount Katahdin as a 12-year-old in 1939 and surviving in the wilds for nine days. The other 20-minute work-in-progress is called “Hermythology” and focuses on the story of Christopher Knight, who lived as a hermit in the central Maine woods for 27 years until his arrest in April for allegedly breaking into a camp to steal food. It will show at the same time as “Lost on a Mountain.”
