A woman was pinned under her flipped car following an accident in Carmel. It happened just after 11 am along Horseback Road. Fire departments from Hermon and Levant responded along with Penobscot Sheriff’s Deputies and Bangor Rescue. They say the woman was headed east when her car left the roadway. “It did not appear she was wearing her seat belt. The patient was pinned under the vehicle so we had to use some extrication equipment to lift the vehicle off the patient,” said Eric Pelletier, Hermon’s Assistant Fire Chief. “It is still under investigation. We have a reconstructionist on scene, who is going to hopefully assist with that. We are not sure thus far what caused the accident,” said Stephen Marko, a Penobscot County Deputy Sheriff. Responders tell us the driver was conscious and alert when they freed her from the car. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Her condition has not been released.
