Sneak Peek of Colby Museum of Art’s New Exhibit Space 

Maine is becoming a hub of art activity.Colby College Museum of Art will re-open it’s new exhibit space, the Alfond-Lunder Family Pavillion, this weekend.The exhibit space was built to showcase more than 500 pieces of art donated by longtime Colby benefactors.The art is worth more than 100 million dollars.Construction began back in 2011.The new addition means that the museum will now have 38,000 feet of exhibition space, the largest in the state.”I think it’s particularly wonderful because this is a museum that is free and open to the pubic so all Mainers can come here and enjoy great works of art and enjoy these beautiful new spaces,” said Sharon Corwin, Director and Chief Curator of the museum. To celebrate the opening of the Pavillion, the public is invited to the Community Day Celebration at the museum this Sunday from noon to 5pm. The museum is located on 5600 Mayflower Hill in Waterville.There will be free food and drink, music, arts & crafts for the entire family, as well as tours of the new building and exhibits every hour.
