When the temperature is up, donations go down for the America Red Cross. Nationally, blood donations are down 10% during the month of June. Numbers took a similar dip this time last year. Folks from the Bangor Blood Donation Center say it’s been a slow couple of months. Local leaders are asking people to roll up their sleeves and give blood. “We don’t have any of our schools. Our high schools and our colleges are not running and that is 80% of our collections during the school year. People are busy, people are on vacation, kids are out of school. It is a hard time for people to kind the time to come in and donate,” said Rebecca MacManus from Bangor’s American Red Cross Blood Donation Center.
