Town Of Freedom Turning 200 years Old

The town of Freedom will celebrate their 200th birthday this weekend.The festivities kickoff Friday night at 7:00 with a birthday celebration at the Old Meeting House on the North Palermo Road.They’ll also have fireworks Friday night at Mitchell Field at 9:00.Members of the town’s historical society will be on-hand showcasing the town’s rich history and also give folks a glimpse of their vision for the future of freedom. “And to recreate as we can a village life,” said historical society member Myrick Cross. “Some towns in Maine don’t have a village and Freedom had a vibrant village at one point in history. We don’t expect that to happen again but we can recreate a village.
