Maine’s highest court has denied the appeal of a Limington man convicted of fatally shooting his wife. Patrick Dapolito was sentenced to 55 years behind bars after being found guilty last year in York County Superior Court of murdering Kelly Winslow in March 2010. The 43-year-old Dapolito said his wife was killed by drug dealers with whom he had a dispute. In his appeal, he challenged the court’s decision to exclude expert testimony from a former DEA agent on the likelihood and ability of a drug organization to be responsible for the murder. The Portland Press Herald, reports that in its decision Tuesday, the Supreme Judicial Court said even if the former agent had been permitted to testify, his statements would not have been relevant.
