There are plans to open a new food pantry in Brewer. Hermon-based non-profit OHI supports adults with intellectual disabilities and mental illness. The agency is going to buy the former Boomer Fitness building on North Main Street to open a food pantry. Brewer hasn’t had a pantry since the Brewer Christian Food Cupboard closed last year. “We know that the need is there. We want to be a part of giving back to the community, we want to be a part of filling that need and we have some wonderful partners on board that are going to make that happen,” said Rich Romero, resource developer with OHI. The plan is to have the food pantry open by November.
