People helping people was the theme of the night in Brewer. It also happens to be the motto for the Eagles, a fraternal organization dedicated that cause. On Monday, the local chapter hosted a dinner and banquet where they handed out donations to different charities and organizations. More than $20,000 was spread between groups like New Hope Hospice, the Maine Veterans Home, Ross Manor, and East Side Rehab. The collection efforts took an entire year and the group is proud to know the good they’ve done will support the area they live in. One group’s deeds have been particularly moving for the group. They donated an estimated $15,000 to the pink sock foundation. Those funds will help families fighting cancer.
