A well-known lawyer in Bangor and a former president of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra board of directors has died. Sam Lanham, Junior was 61. He’d been battling cancer and died Wednesday night in Rockland. One of his partners described him as a legendary lawyer. Lanham is known nationally for his work on mass tort claims, involving defective drugs. He also gained a reputation working with Ross Perot during his presidential campaign in 1996, trying to get Perot’s name on the ballot across the country. Lanham was the president of the BSO board from 2008 to 2011. He’s survived by his wife and three adult sons. We’re told the family is planning to hold a memorial service in the fall.
