House Votes To Override Governor’s Energy Bill Veto

Early Thursday morning, the Maine House voted to override the Governor’s veto of an energy bill.Only 11 representatives voted against it.The bill covers a number of topics including enacting measures to improve energy efficiency, expand the infrastructure for natural gas development in maine, and help homes and businesses convert to cheaper sources of energy.Governor LePage had raised objections to the bill, claiming the University of Maine was being deprived of the opportunity to compete for offshore wind development.A member of the energy committee says he worked with the University to make sure the legislation contained a provision allowing the University to vie for a contract.
