Hospital Repayment Proposal on Governor’s Desk

Three bills are now on Governor LePage’s desk for approval.Including, the plan to repay Maine’s nearly half billion dollar hospital debt. The House and Senate gave their final approval Thursday. This plan uses the state liquor sales which will then trigger federal funding.By paying the hospitals prior to October 1st, the state will save $5 million. Governor LePage vetoed the measure in May because Democrats tied it to a proposal to expand Medicaid to 70,000 Mainers. He has also refused to released voter approved bonds until a hospital repayment bill reaches his desk.
