A changed charter could cost Lincolnville’s police chief his job. A citizen’s petition came forth because members of the community felt a charter, requiring the town to employ a full time police chief, cost them too much money.Voters chose to amend that charter tonight in a 392 to 335 decision. Currently Lincolnville’s Police Department consists of just one officer, that’s Chief Ron Young. A “no” vote would have kept the police department in place. There will be another vote on whether or not to keep Young on board as police chief. That vote will be on Saturday.
