A community forum filled a Bangor hot spot to capacity Tuesday. Bagel Central kept their doors open late for the Downtown Bangor Partnership. They’re a committee made up of local business leaders, activists, and others trying to grow and promote and downtown area. Among their concerns, dealing with Bangor’s panhandling population, treating drug addicts, also developing more recreation space like a skate park or playground. Attendees also had suggestions for downtown business like creating more public restrooms, addressing shoplifting, and possibly moving the city’s bus terminal out of Pickering Square.George Kinghorn, President of the Downtown Bangor Partnership, plans to take the suggestions, “then bring with our, kind of, collaborative relationship with the city council to advance some of these projects as we all work together to grow downtown Bangor.”For more information on upcoming events or how to get involved, visit downtownbangor.com.
