Inmates at the Maine State Prison in Warren have a new tool to help them learn a trade. A local furniture maker has developed a Fine Woodworking Program for the prisoners. About ten students are in it right now. Instructor Brian Reid says the goal is to have them learn the skills they need to teach other prisoners. The program is in addition to the woodwork inmates can do at the prison workshop. Those items are then sold to the public at the Maine State Prison Showroom. We’re told some of the fine woodworking products are for sale there, too.
