A large water main break is forcing some folks in Pittsfield to boil their water, until at least Friday. Officials say crews were replacing a hydrant on Leonard Street when an old section of the pipe broke. Everything was fixed but there are concerns about possible water contamination. Folks who live on Lincoln, Detroit, Leonard and Davis Streets, as well as Hunnewell Avenue, should boil their water for at least 5 minutes before they drink it or use it on foods or to brush teeth. Authorities will let people know when the order is lifted. Anyone with questions can call Pittsfield Water Works at 487-5203 or State of Maine Drinking Water Program at 287-2070.
