State Senate Passes Food Safety Legislation

Maine Senate voted to strengthen the Kid-Safe Product Act tonight.A new bill requires manufacturers or distributors whose products contain certain chemicals to notify the Department of Environmental Protection within 30 days of when those products are being sold in Maine.The legislation is designed to protect children from exposure to harmful chemicals, including BPA. Earlier this year a law was passed, banning BPA from infant formula and baby food packaging.
