After the annual parade in downtown Bangor Monday, veterans and their families headed over to the Cole Land Transportation Museum. Those with their walking sticks were treated to a free hot dog or hamburger for lunch. The Bangor High School Band provided the patriotic music for the crowd.Organizers say this event helps young people understand the sacrifices of war, by talking with those who experienced it first-hand.”It’s important for people to realize what all happened in these wars,” says Galen Cole, founder of the Cole Land Transportation Museum. “And by inter-mingling with one another, they get that knowledge and that feeling and that rapport.”After lunch, the crowd heard from Maine’s Adjutant General, Brig. General James Campbell.
