A woman from Glenburn is going to prison for stealing nearly $100,000 from a Beagle rescue group she helped start. 39-year-old Leanne Parks was sentenced to a year-and-a-half behind bars after pleading guilty to theft. Prosecutors in the Attorney General’s office say she funneled donations from the group known as B.O.N.E.S. from 2005 to 2009. We’re told the money was used for personal and household expenses. Parks co-founded Beagles of New England States in 2003. She diverted nearly 550 checks from the organization that were supposed to cover vet bills, dog food and other expenses for volunteers who took in unwanted beagles.
