Convicted Sex Offender from Charleston Going to Prison for 35 Years
A convicted sex offender from Charleston was sentenced Tuesday to 35 years in federal prison. 44-year-old Carey Gonyer was found guilty last July of producing and possessing child pornography. Gonyer sexually abused a 15-year-old boy and then produced pornographic pictures of that boy, as well as others. The images were found on Gonyer’s cell phone and memory cards taken from his home. Gonyer also pleaded guilty last fall to state charges of 10 counts of sexual abuse of a minor. In 2007, Gonyer was sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for having child porn, too.
