240 are injured and 24 people are confirmed dead following Monday’s devastating tornado in Oklahoma City. Officials there expect those numbers to rise. In the aftermath of that storm, local agencies say they’re ready to help. The Maine Emergency Management Agency, along with the National Guard, have provided out of state support in similar natural disaster situations and are preparing for any requests that may come from Oklahoma. Officials at MEMA say the best way for Mainers to help is through monetary donations, supporting local volunteer agencies. The United Way of Central Oklahoma has started a relief fund to assist those victims. To donate, you can log onto unitedwayokc.org, or by calling 405 523 3597. You can also mail cash or check to them at P.O. Box 837, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73101.
