LePage: “Office of governor was totally disrespected”

Sunday in Augusta, Governor LePage was not allowed to address the Appropriations Committee during a budget work session to discuss a projected shortfall in the Department of Health and Human Services. Before leaving the room in disgust, LePage told committee members that Maine residents “are being played for patsies”.Monday at the Blaine House, the governor was asked about the confrontation.LePage says he was simply going to answer a question that had been asked by the committee and he also wanted to praise DHHS Commissioner Mary Mayhew.LePage says he didn’t feel personally disrespected, but he had this to say about not being allowed to speak.”If I want to be liked I go get another dog,” LePage said. “I think the office of governor, I do believe the office of governor was totally disrespected. And whether I’m holding it or John Baldacci is holding it. Or Angus King is holding it or some future governor. It is inappropriate.”
