Relay For Life Raises Over $250,000 for Cancer Research
Cancer never sleeps, and neither did over 750 participants in this year’s Relay For Life.The overnight event brought together over 75 teams to help raise money for cancer research.The money will go towards local cancer programs right here in the state of Maine.Participants say they won’t rest until they find a cure.”It’s a killing disease,” said Co-Chair for the Penobscot Relay for Life Chad Labree. “Hopefully one day we’re going to be able to fight this just as if it were a common cold,” he said.An 8-year participant in the relay Debbie Grass has lost several family and friends to the disease. “If there’s anything that I can do to raise money to help find this cure, that was my mission,” Grass said.It was a record-breaking year for the Penobscot Relay. Over $250,000 was raised for the cause.
