High School Principal Admits to Hit and Run

A local principal panicked after crashing into a parked car, then fled the scene and reported his car stolen.According to the BDN, Gary Spencer, 56, of Old Town is facing charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and filing a false report.He’s currently the principal of Central High School in Corinth.The incident happened early this May in Old Town.Officers responded to a report of a black car striking another vehicle on Lincoln St. and then driving away.The car was found abandoned less than a mile away from the scene of the accident.Spencer told police he was left the keys in his car while doing yard work, then noticed it was missing.On Sunday, Spencer admitted to police that he was, in fact, behind the wheel that day.He faces misdemeanor charges and was not arrested.No word yet on when he may appear in court.
