Maine Shoe Company Bought by Texas Company 

A Maine shoe-making company has been bought by a Texas footwear manufacturer. Fort Worth-based Justin Brands Inc. said it has acquired Highland Shoe Co. LLC in Brewer for an undisclosed price. The company said in a statement it will continue to employ all 35 employees at Highland Shoe and maintain the current production level of more than 400 pairs of hand-sewn shoes each week. Highland Shoe makes private-label casual and dress shoes that are sold around the world. Justin Brands is a leading manufacturer of western footwear. It’s owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
