Car Collides with 18-Wheeler in Hampden

A Winterport man is in the hospital after a colliding with an 18-wheeler.Hampden Police said Dakota El-Hajj, 20, was driving his Audi when he struck an 18-wheeler driven by Douglas Woodward, 39, of Plymouth.El-Hajj was trapped under the truck and was removed by emergency personnel.Officials said he was alert and conscious at the scene, but complaining of a head injury. The 20-year-old was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center.The driver of the 18-wheeler did not sustain any injuries. Hampden Police Officer Joel Small said, “The operator of the Audi was traveling south on Route 202 approaching the intersection Mecaw Road and struck an 18-wheeler that was turning left onto Mecaw Road. So, the 18-wheeler was traveling north.”Hampen Police are investigating the accident and said there could be charges.
