If you need a bike, the Bangor Police Department might be able to help you out. The annual bike auction is Saturday at the Bangor Parks and Recreation Building. More than 50 bicycles are up for grabs with each going to the highest bidder. There are kids bikes, mountain bikes, and some bikes that will likely just be used for parts. Most of them have been abandoned. ” We hang on to them for a year. If somebody comes in to claim them, great. If they go unclaimed they get sold. A couple have been donated. We have one particular bike, vintage Columbia from the 70’s that’s in great shape. A gentleman gave it to us last year with the owners manuel and I’m hoping somebody comes in to get that. It’s a nice bike,” said Jason McAmbley, community relations officer for the Bangor Police Department. The auction preview starts at 8am with bidding kicking off at 9am. The auction is outside the Bangor Parks and Recreation building on Main Street.
