Cupcake Competition Fundraiser
A sweet fundraiser was held Friday morning in Bangor. The Maine Veterans’ Home hosted a cupcake competition. Employees, friends and volunteers baked 11 dozen treats to raise money for MVH’s team in the walk to end Alzheimer’s. The past few years the team has come in second place for most money raised. This year, they want to be number one. “Everyone loves cupcakes and it’s a good way to earn money. We’ve done a lot of things, we’ve done art shows, we’ve done yard sales, we’ve done auctions, but this is just one more thing. We’re trying hard to get to first place,” said Janet Mitchell residential care director.TV5 morning anchor Joy Hollowell was one of the judges. First place went to a peanut butter chocolate cupcake, raspberry came in second and orange cream took third. The Alzheimer’s walk is Saturday, October 5th.
