National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day

Thursday was National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day.Acadia Hospital in Bangor was recognizing the day with a number of events. The hospital was focusing on the importance of building a sense of community in children and adolescents with mental health and substance use challenges.”Social connectedness is huge for, well, everyone wants to matter and belong, but for people that have mental health issues there are a lot of barriers to that. So our focus here at Acadia is to help our kids connect with their community. To be able to manage their symptoms, and get back into that community,” said Robyn Greene director of pediatric outpatient clinical services. This summer Acadia Hospital will be holding an extensive outpatient program for kids in grades k-12.The program will benefit those who have conflicts at home, school, or at community activities because of emotional and behavioral problems because of mental health diagnosis.Click here for more information
