A landmark fundraising effort is helping a local hospital open its doors early. Donors and supporters of MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Alfond Center for Health had the chance to see the new building on Tuesday night.The facility in Augusta will begin treating patients in November, 7 months ahead of their original plan. Supporters have collected $11.5 million so far. The Prescott Education Pavilion inside the building will also serve locals through cooking classes and space for community events. There was a touching moment during the ceremony’s opening remarks.It was announced that the office building on campus will be named in honor of Scott Bullock, the longtime CEO of Maine General Healthcare.He passed the touch onto their current leader in January of this year.
