A hand grenade that was removed from Orono Monday morning was a dud. Sgt. Scott Wilcox with the Orono Police Department says a woman from Pine Street called police to say she’s had a grenade for 35 years and wasn’t sure if it was active. Orono police called in the Bangor Police Department Bomb Squad as a precaution to safely remove the device. After testing, the bomb technicians determined the hand grenade was, in fact, a dud.
