There was a very special party Friday afternoon at Husson University.Clara Swan turned 101. Swan taught at the school for 34 years and coached basketball. She graudated from the school in 1933. She’s already had three other parties, and still has one more coming up.Clara says she loves the attention and is happy to share the day with everyone. “I enjoy it,” she commented. “I enjoy seeing everybody and remembering all the things we did, ya know, and my relationship with all the students when I was here and they were here. We had good times.””She still actively participates in the men and women’s basketball games,” said one member of the party. “Comes and cheers them on. Last year I know she sort of coached an alumni reunion game a little bit from the sidelines, if you will.”In honor of her special day, Husson gave her a pair of personalized sneakers in the university’s colors, with her name on them. Clara also tells us she won a lot more of her basketball games than she lost, something she’s very proud of.
