A filmmaker has made the Katahdin region come to life on the big screen. Lance Edmands is a Kennebunk native and the director of the film, “Bluebird.”The movie was filmed last winter in the Millinocket, East Millinocket, and Lincoln area. Bluebird focuses on the Mill industry and life in Northern Maine. In April, the actors and filmmakers walked the red carpet for the debut. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.Edmands, said, “It lived inside my head for so long and it was the first time it was being projected on a screen and the first time a lot of people were seeing it. So, it was a little nerve-racking and a little intense, but in the end we had a really good reception at Tribeca.”Actor Brandon Wardwell said, “I could feel how heavy the room was. I saw a few people tear up. I didn’t tear up, but people did tear up.”The film will be shown for the first time in Maine this weekend. You can head to the Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville tomorrow for a screening. The show starts at 7 pm.
