Families Learn About Safety at Orrington Spring Festival

A community Spring Festival turned out to be a great place to talk about safety. The public was invited to a meet and greet to learn about local law enforcement.Attendees got to see a jaws demonstration and a police canine in action. In light of recent tragedies, organizers say this event helps bring the community together.”We’re trying to get safety info out to allow the public to come and check out everything we have and have them more comfortable with talking to us and asking us questions,” explained Orrington Fire and Rescue Public Educator Shellie Tourtillotte.President for the Center Drive School parent Teach Group kelly Bay said, “We’ve had a few sad moments here in Orrington in the past year. We thought it would be a great thing to teach safety and be proactive with our kids and families here.”Spring Festival offered even more fun activities for families including games and a bounce house.
