No Additional Jail Time for Man Involved in Troy Shooting Incident

Updated 12 months ago

A Newport area man won’t do any more jail time for a shooting incident in Troy. Richard Small, 45, pleaded guilty Thursday to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and assault. Waldo County Deputy District Attorney, Eric Walker, says as part of the plea deal, other charges against Small were dropped. Last year, Small confronted a homeowner in Troy at gunpoint. The gun went off while the two men fought, but no one was hurt. Walker says Small has since moved to North Carolina and will be on probation there for 18 months. Small was sentenced to five years in jail with all but four months suspended, but he has already served 4-and-a-half months in jail in Maine, so he does not have to go back to jail. Small also cannot be in Troy, Maine, cannot have any weapons, and must agree to searches of himself, his home and his vehicles.
