Man from Mexico Pleads Not Guilty in Major Pot Operation Down East 

A man from Mexico has pleaded not guilty to a major pot growing operation in Washington County. 52-year-old Moises Soto appeared in federal court in Bangor Monday and agreed to be held without bail until his trial. He was arrested in Texas last month.Drug agents say in September of 2009, they found nearly 3,000 pot plants in Township 37, worth about $9 million.Soto and four other people from Maine are accused of running the operation with the help of illegal aliens.Haynes Timber Company is also charged with managing and controlling property used to manufacture marijuana. They’ve all pleaded not guilty, too.
