Mix 107.9 Helps Send Kids to Summer Camp

Some local radio hosts are roughin’ it for a good cause.It’s the 2nd annual Camp Out For Kids. Morning Show Co-Hosts on Mix 107.9 spent the weekend in a camper to raise money to send kids to camp.The money goes to the Maine Children’s Home, which sends 130 underprivileged kids to summer camp each year.With help from J & M Camper and their sister station Oldies 93.5, the benefit gives kids a chance to enjoy a favorite Maine pastime.Morning Show Co-Host for Mix 107.9 Jay Hanson said, “There’s all these kids in this local area that don’t have the benefit to see these beautiful camps and the relationships at an early age that a lot of kids from all over the country get to see.”Owner of J&M Camper & Marine Jeff Stoddard said, “It’s important to get the kids to camp, get them to a place where’s safe–something fun. There’s good stories of kids coming back and they’re a lot different after they’ve been to camp, better in school and better behavior.”The Camp Out raised over $8,000 which will help send 50 kids to summer camp.
