50 Volunteers Turn Out for Community Cleanup Day

A little rain didn’t stop over 50 volunteers from coming out for Cleanup Day.The 6th annual Earth Day Community Cleanup was held Saturday.Boys and Girl scouts and Job Corps students turned out to do their part.Even with the rain, cleanup efforts spanned across two towns.”We’ve got people all the way out to the Billings road and the Bog road in Hermon over to Odlin road in Bangor. Just within that stretch alone we can easily pull out 100 to 120 bags of trash,” said event coordinator Tim Pellett.Pellet’s daughter Lindsey said, “I like picking up trash. It’s kind of fun. You get to make the Earth cleaner.”The event is hosted by Maine Cleanup, a citizen initiative managed by Pellett. To learn more, you can visit
