Crews Battle Fire In Condemned House In Bangor For Second Time In One Month

Multiple crews responded to a blaze in Bangor early Thursday morning.Fire broke out in the basement of a condemned house on the corner of Jefferson and Norfolk Streets.Assistant Fire Chief Darrell Cyr said that the fire was heavy when they arrived.”We knocked it down from the inside and then started attacking the fire interior. There was fire on all three levels. It got around the chimney chases and started going up the chimney, on the sides of the chimney. It started going through the floors and ceilings and walls, so it took about a half hour, 45 minutes to knock down,” said Cyr.Cyr believes no one was in the building at the time. The house caught fire earlier this month.Crews are still investigating what caused the fire.
