Unity College has a lot going on to mark Earth Week.Wednesday, students at the college showed off the school’s greenhouse that opened last fall.Visitors could take a tour of the facility, where students get to try their hands at vegetable gardening.Radishes, spinach and turnip are among the vegetables they’re growing. The greenhouse is also a part of a larger project that helps folks in need. “Half of the greenhouse is used for food security,” said Sarah Bicknell, a junior at Unity College. “It’s a program called Veggies For All and they’re a non-profit that works with us in the college. The other half is used for students who just want to grow their own things for their community.”To learn more about the Veggies For All program:http://www.mofga.org/Publications/MaineOrganicFarmerGardener/Summer2011/VeggiesforAll/tabid/1921/Default.aspx
