LifeFlight Helicopter Makes Precautionary Landing

A LifeFlight helicopter made an unexpected landing in Cumberland Tuesday afternoon. It was on its way back from transporting a patient from Maine Medical Center in Portland to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. When one of the helicopter’s engines experienced a disruption of airflow, the pilot decided to land in a grass field at the intersection of Winn and Range Road. Cumberland police and fire were on scene, with the help of state police. They say their training in these types of scenarios helped them respond. There was no damage to the aircraft.
