An upscale Maine restaurant is offering the ultimate cocktail at the ultimate price. Beginning June 1, The White Barn Inn in Kennebunk will start selling the Ruby Rose cocktail, a concoction with a 4-carat ruby and a $40,000 price tag. The Inn is marking its 40th anniversary, and ruby is the gemstone for a 40th wedding anniversary. Besides the ruby, the drink is made with Hangar 1 Vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, pomegranate and a spoonful of rosewater. For those who want the drink without a precious stone, it’ll cost $18.The White Barn Inn isÂ throwing an over-the-top celebration the weekend of May 31 – June 2 that will feature aÂ 9-course dinner complete with aÂ bottle of wine from 1973.The menuÂ created by Chef Jonathan Cartwright will be $400 per person and served on Saturday, June 1.Â The dishes on the menu will take guests back 40 years to honor the milestone.Â Along with dinner, guestsÂ willÂ enjoy a 1973 Dâ€™Oliveiras Verdelho wine to represent the start of theÂ hotelÂ and restaurant’sÂ successful journey.A bottle of 1973 Hanzell Vineyards Pinot Noir, Sonoma Valley from Hanzell Estates will be auctioned off during the dinner on June 1.Â Guests will have the opportunity to bid for this rare vintage bottle that is only sold to a handful of Hanzell Estates’s esteemed collectors. All proceeds will be donated to â€œShare Our Strength,â€ a charity whose aim to draw public attention to the importance of ending childhood hunger and connecting children in need with nutritious food through the No Kid Hungry network, as well as teaching families to cook healthy, inexpensive meals.
