Local Sorority Raises Over $600 for Cancer Research 

The dreary weather didn’t stop one local sorority from running a 5k on Sunday.Kappa Lambda at Husson University hosted its first 5k run to raise money for the American Cancer Society.With the help of other Greek organizations, the turnout was greater than expected.The group chose this charity after losing a fraternity brother to cancer last year.Vice President of Kappa Lambda and the Planning Chairperson for the event said, “We decided on the American Cancer Society to support research for cancer because that’s what he died of. It was a rare kind of cancer that they didn’t know how to deal with.”19 people participated and they raised just over $600 for the cause. The sisters plan to make this an annual event to benefit a different charity each year.
