What a ride for some students at Hermon Elementary School on Friday!Twelve kindergarten through eighth grade students went home with brand new bikes. It was all part of the “Bikes for Books” reading initiative set up by the Hermon Lynd Lodge. For every book a student read since January, their name was entered into a bike drawing. Winners were chosen on Friday.”They do quite a job of promoting here in the school anyways, but this is just a little bit more incentive for a child to read,” said Audie Gold of the Hermon Lynd Lodge.50 lodges throughout the state participate in this program.More than one thousand bikes have been given out to readers.
