City Council Approves $3 Millon Bond Vote for Bangor Library

The Bangor city council Monday night approved putting a $3 million bond issue on the ballot to help pay for roof repairs at the Bangor Public Library. The money would be used to replace the building’s century-old copper roof, as well as a roof over a 1950s section of the library.Officials are trying to raise another $6 million to renovate the inside of the library and add to the library’s endowment fund.Authors Stephen and Tabitha King have offered to pay for half of that, if the community picks up the rest of the tab. Voters will decide on the bond issue June 18th.
