UMaine Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Away From Binghamton

An 11:00 AM start for the UMaine baseball team, hosting Binghamton. Tommy Lawrence on the hill in Game One. He had a bit of a tough start. Zach Blanden leads off the game with a triple. Then, Jake Thomas lines a fastball into left field, bringing Blanden home. The Bearcats take a 1-0 lead.Lawrence settled down after that though. He gets out of the first with a nasty breaking ball that fools Jordon Smucker. The Maine righty gives up one earned run over seven innings.The Black Bear offense was quiet until the bottom of the sixth. Maine puts up a five on the scoreboard, topped off by Colin Gay’s RBI single to right. Mike Connolly and Troy Black scoring on the hit. Maine wins Game One, 5-2.The Black Bears also win Game Two, 3-2, to complete the sweep.Maine is now 8-3 in conference play to start the year.
