An intense eight-week course ended in dramatic fashion on Thursday. The Bangor Region Leadership Institute challenged their graduates with an “Amazing Race” through the city’s downtown area.It was designed to build camaraderie among teammates, but some just couldn’t resist the competition. The 24 participants were split into teams, stopping at 9 stations to receive a lesson and challenge from a volunteer.Teams started from the top of the Bangor parking garage, then dispersed to different locations such as the Penobscot Theater, the Bangor Public Library, the Bangor Police Department, the Maine Discovery Museum, Paddy Murphy’s, Central Street Farmhouse, Hammond Street Senior Center, and Giacomos. The afternoon’s winning team was Maren McGillicuddy of Nickerson O’Day, Kevin Peterson of Bangor Hydro, and Katrina Mumford from Eastern Maine Commuinty College.
