LePage Vetoes Tanning Bill

Governor LePage has vetoed a bill to ban tanning facilities from letting anyone under eighteen use their tanning machines.Maine lawmakers passed the bill and would now have to muster enough votes to override the governor’s veto to make it stick. The American Academy of Pediatrics says powerful tanning beds produce radiation levels up to fifteen times higher than that of the midday sun.The governor says he vetoed the bill because tanning facility use by minors is something that should be left up to parents, not lawmakers.
