Final Word On Searsport Natural Gas Terminal

Terry Stackhouse

There will be no propane tank in Searsport. That decision was made official by the town’s planning board. After completing their evaluation of DCP Midstream’s proposal to build a 20-million gallon tank at Mack Point, the board unanimously determined that they did not meet the town’s land use ordinances, nor did they pass a site plan review. The board did decide however that the company’s construction plans passed a shore land review, but they’d need to pass all three to be approved.About 100 residents came out for the ruling, giving the planning board a standing ovation when the announcement was made that the $40-million propane terminal project will not be coming to Searsport.
